Arrivals and getting to know you.. [06 Sep 2003|10:49pm]

Jade is going to be a month old next week. Its strange to think that she is already a month old. She has the sweetest little faces. She stares at me and gives me these eyes that seem like she is saying Hi or even better "I love you" but I know that not to be true. I know she looks at me with "Hey boobie supply, why don't you pop that out??" In any event I am out like the fat kid in dodge ball to partake of baby mommy time..

9 days Postpartum.. [20 Aug 2003|02:23pm]

Jade and I are getting along smashingly. She slept in bed with J and I for the first few days but is now sleeping in her bassinet. I can't stop looking at her. I am getting use to sleep deprivation and the constant sucking that is going on to my breasts. She is a busy girl and prefers her mommy over everyone else. Jason and I are trying to maintain normality and romance but after childbirth it really is impossible. Our conversations have gone from endearing to talks of the color, texture, & odor of infant shit. Her embilical stump is starting to get bloody towards the base. When I talked to the pediatrician he said that, that means it is going to be falling off soon. I am still in debate about whether or not it will be saved in her keepsake box. I want to save it because I think that it would be nice for her to have a box of everything from the first weeks of her life. So far in her keepsake box there is her head cap from the hospital, her receiving blanket from the hospital, a balloon from the hospital, and other such things.. It needs more. Most of the other stuff is in her scrapbook.
Thats all my friends.. More when it develops..

this is an antique rocking chair that J and his father were both rocked in.
Also I don't know if you can tell but the blue part of the wall has clouds painted on it ... the box is the crib. we are missing parts so J has to go yell at someone. We got the 3 in one crib..
it should look like this after we put it together..

oh well 2 more weeks to go!

Its almost here. I can feel every moment pulling me closer and closer to the end of this pregnancy. The last few weeks have been the worst. I feel so uncomftorable lately and I am so eager to have her here. I finished work last Friday so now it is just waiting, waiting for her arrival. I hate being out of work and I am not returning to my previous company so they aren't covering me on insurance... so with that being said I have to take on Cobra Insurance. The price of Cobra insurance is just insane. I am sure that there is something in the maternity leave act that states that they have to cover me no matter what.. but what am I gonna do?? They know I am not coming back, they have that in their defense, and I am just not interested in a battle. In any event that is my newest worry. But like so many others this too will pass.
I am researching the maternity leave laws now... trying to see if their is something that states that they, no matter what, have to cover me for the full 12 weeks. I do understand that I have to send them a check even if they were to cover me. I paid 43 bucks a week before.. now it is almost 80 bucks. I just cant fathom a $320 bill that isn't my car. In any event.. I am getting huge. My weight gain so far is 39lbs. I still haven't gotten any stretch marks on my stomach and I am crossing my fingers that they stays the way it is.

We are getting closer and closer [30 Jun 2003|05:34pm]

As time passes I feel kicks in my side more and more. Everyday her movements gets harder and more intense. I enjoy it. When I sit hunched over she doesnt like it. She will start kicking me and getting pissed. I love playing with her.
The baby shower was yesterday and we have everything that we need now. Our layette is complete. We have a bassinet which looks quite cozy with its little lavender blanket. I can't wait to put someone in it.
I can't wait to put her in the stroller either

Its amazing.
This baby stuff is great.
Thats the update.
Any day now I will have my little girl.

lightening When the fetus descends into the pelvic cavity. In first-time mothers, usually occurs two to four weeks before delivery; women who have already givenbirth usually don't lighten until they begin labor.

Lightening occurs 2-4wks before labor begins?! Well I am starting to think that maybe it has already occured. I don't want to get too excited but all of a sudden I can breath much easier, there is alot of pressure in my pelvis, and I feel like I have to constantly pee. Its something to question! Her movements have increased again. She slowed down a few weeks ago but all of a sudden she is moving, kicking, and what not. I have also noticed movements lower. I use to only feel her movements up towards the top of my stomach or the side when she would kick a little. All of a sudden I can feel them low near where my underwear start. Tell me what you guys think??
Cravings: Corn with butter. Corn on the cob, corn out of the can, it doesnt matter!-As long as there is plenty of butter.

Hello, stephanie!
Your baby's probably moving more than ever before. Some pregnant women even have trouble sleeping because their babies' kicks and rolls keep them up at night. If you're having this problem, comfort yourself with the knowledge that your baby is active and healthy. You're also getting some practice for all the sleepless nights you'll endure as a new mom. If you haven't already, now is a good time to start monitoring your baby's activity level. Twice a day count your baby's movements. Ideally, you should feel at least ten kicks, rolls, or swishes in two hours. If you notice fewer than ten movements in two hours or a significant decrease in the frequency of your baby's movements, tell your midwife or doctor immediately.

I am feeling less and less of her movements. I feel her push her little elbows or feet out but not like I use to feel her. I started the childbirth/lamaze classes last week. So far its going well. We learned the different types of breathing, ways to relax, ways for our partners to help us relax, etc. My hospital also offers a postpartum class that helps you with basic child care. I am really happy with the hospital. They encourage you to have your baby sleep in your room with you. The hospital rooms are private which is also great. There is a pullout couch for J to sleep on, a T.V & VCR, dining room table, and private shower. As you can see I am really happy with the hospital.

I also had my first bash of pregnancy tears. On Saturday I went to Busch Gardens with the family. I expected to not be able to go on many rides. I went to be with my family and to be the person that sat out with my younger brother, Tony. There is a water ride that isn't fast or anything so I figured I could on it. When I walked up Tony wasn't tall enough and then they said I couldn't go on either. I started crying with Tony. It was pathetic.

You're 30 Weeks Pregnant Wrong week?

Hello, stephanie!
Good news: At this point your baby's lungs and digestive tract are nearly mature, meaning she'll do much better in the event of premature birth. Researchers also believe your baby can actually see in utero now, but no one knows exactly how much she can make out. Her eyesight continues to mature every week, and in a few months she'll be ready to see you up close and personal

29wks [29 May 2003|02:25pm]

29 weeks
So we have hit the 29wk marker. It has all passed by so quickly. Jade isn't moving as much as before. I guess she is getting cramped up. I still feel her all the time but the movements are not as active as the rest. I have an appt with the specialist tomorrow. Of course I hate that I had to go through all that drama and worrying with her in the 2nd trimester. The amnio, the fear of DS, and everything else we went through. But because we went through that we get to have level 2 sonograms throughout the pregnancy. I have great insurance so my OB has given me 2 already but any of you that have had a level 2 know how amazing they are compared to a regular. I wish I could get a 3D one just to be able to see her face perfectly but we will wait. So tomorrow I see the specialist. I have not seen him since the 21st week. I am eager to see her and how big she has gotten. I hope they give me sonogram photos. I havent gotten any since the 18th week.

Also I am going out of town for Friday the 13th. I am going to Conn. What do you guys think of flying when your 32wks? I am going to contact my OB and see what it is that he thinks.
I have my first tour of the hospital on Saturday. My hospital has a really nice maternity pavilion. Wood Floors & all rooms have an amoire with T.V, sleeper couch, dining room table, and a bassinet for the baby to stay with us. I am quite excited about it. I am having good luck with OBs and hospitals. I hear horror stories about OBs and that makes me quite glad that my OB actually cares (or acts like it)

In any event.
Happy 29wks Jade.

I got results back from my diabetes screening. Everything is normal except the fact that I am a little anemic. On Friday of last week I went to see my primary because my throat was hurting. The glands in the back of my throat were swelling and I was given 500mg of Amoxicillin. Of couse then my primary calls today to let me know that I am low on iron as well. Does anyone have any suggestions for an iron supplement?
I am starting to notice an increase in acne. I never had an acne problem growing up. If I ever got a zit it was one small one and I wouldn't get one for another few months. All of sudden I have a bumpy chin and one on the side of my nose and forehead. Its pretty depressing. It seems that I am getting bigger and bigger as the days past. I feel bigger than I was a week ago. Also it is obvious I am gaining weight in several places like my arms and thighs.
( Here are some pictures )

Today was hell. I went to the OB to get the gestational diabetes test done.. That drink is disgusting! It made me so nauseous. I drank the drink at 8:50 this morning and called dr. b to let him know that I was drinking it. I got to his office 35 mins later and waited in the room for the hour marker to draw the blood. All of a sudden I got queasy. I started to walk around to calm down. Laid back. didnt work. And that was it.. puke. I throw up all over the examining table. It was sad. Dr. B made me move to another room, got my blood, and brought me white bread with butter to ease my stomach. Than we talked about his baby and how his wife never really saw the kicks or felt anything really like I have.! I found that interesting. I really like my OB. He calls me atleast once every two weeks to see how I am feeling and to let me know what the baby is doing now and make sure that I am happy and what not. I felt really crappy after I threw up. I did come to work though. Well I am getting bigger by the day now. I read somewhere that at 25wks if the baby is born there is a strong chance that the baby would survive. Not that I want her out now but its still cool to know that. My mother was born at 28wks. She was a twin and only weighed a pound and a half.
Well congratulation tylerbaby on your birth!

Toodles!

The fetus weighs more than 1 1/4 pounds. Though it still has little body fat and its skin is thin and fragile, it's now well-proportioned. The brain is growing rapidly, and the baby is starting to fill the space in your uterus. If you went into labor at this time, however, many healthcare providers would make every effort to halt the progress of preterm labor to enable the fetus to continue maturing.
You may be noticing faint, red streaks--otherwise known as striae or stretch marks--on your abdomen, hips, and breasts. While creams won't erase them, wearing a supportive bra may help prevent or minimize them on your breasts. They are typical developments at this stage of the pregnancy and they will fade to silvery, white marks after giving birth. Also, your eyes may be light-sensitive and may feel gritty and dry. This is a perfectly normal pregnancy symptom known as dry-eye. To ease your discomfort, use an "artificial tears" solution to add moisture.

23wks... or is it 24???
At the beginning of the pregnancy I always knew the week I was in.. now I seem to forget it. I think that the pregnancy forget thing is setting in now as the 3rd trimester approaches. I always feel baby moving. She kicks, she does flips. I can't wait to embrace her. Now I just rub my belly and sing to her. So far her favorite song... is "Nothing Compares to U" by Sinead O'Connor... Or is that just my favorite to sing to her??? More than likely the 2nd! Either way I feel like I am losing my mind. That and yes I know this may be too much info... but we are all going through it... I am having so much discharge lately that I have to wear a maxi. Its so gross....
phew.. its nice to get that off my chest.

I thought the user pic was clever!!!

So as I stated clearly before the baby is sooo low. Its getting to be really uncomftorable. I wanted to know when everyone else started their child birth classes??
I havent talked to my OB about it yet. At my next appt I have to take the gestational diabetes test. ooooh yea!! I have the orange drink getting cold in my house as we speak. Thats on May 2nd. I am not really that excited about that at all.
So for almost 23 weeks... we are feeling... cramping in belly, headaches, nose bleeds, UTI, constant urge to urinate.
I am still enjoying the comfort of the 2nd trimester but its also starting to make me really uncomfy. I bought a body pillow which so far is helping to ease my sleeping pains... but other than that its a headache of bad dreams and hard to find comftorable positions. But we will prevail.
The baby names are still in contest. Jade was my number one choice but as the birth comes closer I am thinking more and more about names and how much this will effect my daughter for the rest of her life. I want to give her a good name. So as of now the following are....

Jade
Jasmine
Julianna
Julianne
Juliet

I dont know if you guys remember but J's family has this tradition where all the first borns have the same initials.. J.A.M...
I am trying to find an appropriate girl name that will suit the middle name Ana.
If you have any suggestions.. let me know...

xoxo..
